Amateur sleuth Astrid Swift swaps the sporting summer in England for a British expat enclave in Spain, where everyone has a secret reason for leaving the UK.

The sunniest days, the deadliest nights.

Amidst the sun and sangria, something sinister is lurking on the Spanish coast. Usually a sleepy seaside enclave, Estopena has instead found itself rattled by a poison-pen campaign that is teasing out its residents' secrets on social media.

Astrid Swift sailed to the sunny beaches with the intention of reconnecting with her estranged father. Instead of an emotional reunion, though, she's been tasked with catching who's been threatening his new wife. Soon Astrid is entwined in the lives of these expats, from the boozy local heckler to the socially awkward beachcomber.

But can she find the internet troll before it's too late for the town? Or will each revealed secret tear this cosy community – including Astrid and her father – even further apart?

Praise for the Astrid Swift mysteries:

'A feisty heroine, an ingenious plot and a cast of quirky characters... A cozy crime to savour.' Merryn Allingham, author of The Bookshop Murder

M.H. Eccleston has had a fairly meandering career – starting out as a radio presenter for the BBC, then staying at the Beeb as a journalist and producer for six years. After that, it's a bit of a blur – he spent a couple of decades, at least, freelancing as a foreign correspondent, TV presenter, voice-over artist and film critic. For the last few years he's been a full-time screenwriter and now novelist. He lives in Ealing with his family, which is ruled by a mischievous Frenchie called George.

The third in a delightfully funny cosy crime series from M.H. Eccleston, who lives in Ealing.

Set in Estopena, Spain in a community of British expats.

'I had the idea for Death Comes to the Costa del Sol in the aftermath of Brexit. A bunch of British expats are desperate to stay in Spain. But an internet troll threatens to reveal their secrets and send them home. Only an outsider like Astrid can solve the case.' M.H. Eccleston.

MARKET: Richard Osman; Robert Thorogood (The Marlow Murder Club); S.J. Bennet (The Windsor Knot).
