Splittingby Fay Weldon

Lady Angelica Rice used to be a teenage rock sensation called Kinky Virgin. She gave it up to marry fat, lazy, near-destitute Sir Edwin Rice – and that's when Angelica's 'splitting' began: a chorus of four women in her head, each one demanding to be heard. Now, after eleven years he's suing her for divorce.

Egged on by her avenging alter egos – meek Jelly, sexually insatiable Angel, and practical Angelica – Lady Rice is about to wreak her revenge...

Now in her ninth decade, Fay Weldon is one of the foremost chroniclers of our time, a novelist who spoke to an entire generation of women by daring to say the things that no one else would. Her work ranges over novels, short stories, children's books, nonfiction, journalism, television, radio, and the stage. She was awarded a CBE in 2001.

After hard times and odd jobs as a lone parent, Fay Weldon became one of the top advertising copywriters of her generation. She moved to TV drama (writing the pilot episode of the iconic series Upstairs Downstairs) then turned to novels – including the classic The Life and Loves of a She Devil and The Cloning of Joanna May. Fay's sequence of novels about the Dilberne family, which encompasses her Love and Inheritance trilogy and Before the War, draws to a close with this final instalment, After the Peace. Fay's been made a CBE for services to literature and she's currently a Professor of Creative Writing at Bath Spa University.

'Fay Weldon is a national treasure.' Literary Review

'Wickedly stylish. Bursting with intelligence and fire.' Daily Telegraph

'Prolific and provocative, Weldon shines brightest in the league table of British women novelists.' Time Out
