Obama names Liu's The Three-Body Problem as a book which helped his presidency

Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States, has named Cixin Liu's science fiction series as a definitive book of his presidency in an interview with The New York Times, describing it as '"wildly imaginative, really interesting".

The book is translated from Chinese into English by Ken Liu, whose own collection of short stories, The Paper Menagerieand epic fantasy series, The Dandelion Dynasty, are also published by Head of Zeus. The Three-Body Problem has also appeared on Mark Zuckerburg's Facebook reading list, 'A Year of Books' in October 2015.

President Obama selected the first in the series, The Three-Body Problem, for his winter reading list in 2015 and has now picked the entire series as one which helped his presidency, keeping things in perspective making "day-to-day problems with Congress seem fairly petty — not something to worry about. Aliens are about to invade." He praised the entire trilogy including sequels, The Dark Forest and Death's Endsaying 'the scope of it was immense'.
