Lesley Thomson joins World Book Night reading list

Lesley Thomson's The Detective's Daughter is one of the titles being shared with those who don't read regularly as part of this year's World Book Night promotion.

World Book Night sends books to audiences who don't regularly engage with reading, including the elderly and isolated, those with mental health issues, individuals in prison and adults with low literacy level. We're sharing 2000 copies of The Detective's Daughter to engage these groups in reading and hopefully, encourage them to become readers themselves.

Lesley Thomson's Detective's Daughter crime series has gone from strength to strength. From it’s early days holding Robert Galbraith off the top spot in the Amazon charts for 10 weeks, the series has garnered hardcore fans and brilliant reviews.

Of The Death Chamber, Jake Kerridge recently wrote the book was ‘In the best traditions of the classic whodunnit’, whilst Ian Rankin has praised Lesley as ‘a class above’. Watch Lesley introduce The Death Chamber here

To launch The Death Chamber, Lesley was joined by fellow crime writers Elly Griffiths and William Shaw for an evening at Waterstones Brighton discussing their new titles and reading from each others books. Elly Griffiths read from The Death Chamber and gave a wonderful introduction to Lesley - you can watch the video here

Lesley has also been on tour this week, visiting bookshops in her local bookstores around Sussex and the Cotswolds, and Winchester where the book is set, and popping along to do some interviews on the way at BBC Sussex.
