The Aleppo Cookbook: Celebrating the Legendary Cuisine of Syria - by Marlene Matar

Aleppo, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world and a UNESCO world heritage site, has been at the forefront of the civil war in Syria since July 2012. Before the recent terrible destruction now taking place there, it was a thriving city, and also home to one of the world's most distinguished and vibrant cuisines. Surrounded by fertile lands and located at the end of the Silk Road, Aleppo was a food capital long before Paris, Rome or New York.

In March 2017, Head of Zeus will publish The Aleppo Cookbook. Illustrated throughout with full-colour photographs of the food, people and markets of Aleppo, the book is is a fitting tribute to a beautiful city and the suffering its people have endured.

For every book sold, a donation will be made to the charity Hand in Hand for Syria. Hand in Hand for Syria were the first people to take humanitarian aid into Syria, and they’ve remained at the forefront of emergency aid in Syria ever since, providing medical aid, food aid, educational materials, water, sanitation and hygiene programmes, community projects and more.
